History

According to historical documents found there, the buildings of the farm date back to the end of the 19th
century or even earlier. Most of them are classified as A2, so they are subjected to structural constraints.
Its architectural features make Pallerino, with its crenellation of the façade, very different from the
other buildings in the same area, probably that is due to the origins of the man who decided to build this
wonderful farm. After a careful and thorough process of recovery, and thanks to the passion and efforts
of the owners, the farm Pallerino can now appear with its new identity of Agriturismo, without forgetting
the importance of the real working farm that has always characterized this place. In the 30s the farm was
divided into eleven small farms with a total area of ??256 hectares, with about 25,000 grapevines and 1,500
olive trees. In 1985, when the families Lostia and the Wenzel Gelpke bought it, there were only about 100
hectares. Over the years the vineyards have been replaced with fields of cereals and grass, while the olive
trees continue to be one of the resources of the farm. In fact, even if out of use, there is still the ancient
stone olive mill, the so-called Inferno ("hell"), that guests can visit on request. The timing of restructuring
has been long and the family has also chosen ecological solutions, such as the installation of underfloor
heating in the public areas called Granaio ("barn") and Segatoio. Another important element of the design
has been the lighting: the purpose outside has been to highlight the centuries old trees without disturbing
the fauna living there, while the interior lights have been designed to create amazing atmospheres. Many
features and details of the houses are the result of an incredible team effort that has involved the whole
family, because a home is not just a building, but a collection of stories to tell and to live again together,
and Pallerino is a unique and special place.
